If babies did what we wanted them to do, and slept when we wanted them to sleep, parenthood would be easy. Most of newborn photos you'll find online will show them fast asleep, knocked out, as if they were bears hibernating during winter season, but trust me when I tell you probably 1 in 5 of newborn sessions we deal with awake babies. Some of them just wake easy or are simply curious and aware that something different is going on around them.

After doing Amy's newborn photos, then meeting her again for her sitter session, we've finally come to the last shoot of the Baby Plan - her First Birthday!
Amy's a very happy girl and had a lot of fun smashing her cake. It was the biggest cake destruction I've had in studio! Icing was flying all over the walls :)

Birthday sessions are a fun way to celebrate your baby's first birthday. You don't need to have the cake smashing part if you don't like your child getting messy. There are balloons, bubbles, colourful pompoms, rubber duckies, fun props like princess carriage, ride on car or rocking horse and many vibrant backdrops.

This tiny little girl came to see me. Her mum mentioned when booking, little Nina is already 2 weeks old, but when they came for her photo shoot, I couldn't believe how little she was! Most newborn babies are bigger than that 2 weeker. Not only she was the tiniest baby I have photographer, ever, she also slept throughout the whole session!

Pregnancy is the only time we get to assist in a miracle of creation, but it's only 9 months in the whole lifetime. And then, once your baby is born, it grow up so quickly.
